However, it takes a lot more than being Tiger Beat material to become my MLBoyfriend. Last week, Turner put up the numbers to win the title: a .400 batting average, 1.238 OPS, 3 home runs, 5 runs, and 8 RBIs.
On Friday, September 9, Turner had two home runs including a walk-off in the Nationals win against the Phillies.
As many big sluggers have proved, if you hit home runs, you don't have to be fast. However, Turner hits home run and is really fast. He's so fast that on July 20th, he became the third player in the history of the Washington Nationals to steal home. Stealing home is one of the hardest, rarest and coolest of feats in baseball--it's a dying art that it would be great to see young players like Turner revive. By the way, he stole home after getting to third on a triple just to make it more impressive.
Trea Turner should definitely be in the running for the National League's Rookie of the Year award as his power surge is helping propel the Nationals into the postseason. I agree with his teammate Tanner Roark's assesment of my MLBoyfriend: "He’s a gamer and he’s a fighter. He’s perfect."
