Week 9: Madison Bumgarner

For the second week in a row, a member of the San Francisco Giants earned the title of my MLBoyfriend. I would like to spread the love around more, but when I looked back on the week, my favorite player was clearly Madison Bumgarner.

He pitched a humdinger of a game against the hateful Atlanta Braves on Thursday, June 2, with 11 strikeouts, a 0.78 WHIP and an ERA of 0.00 (which, if you didn't know, is the best possible ERA). In that game, Bumgarner also hit his second home run of the season--a two-run shot that left his bat at a sizzling 109 mph.

Bumgarner and others are now calling for his inclusion in the All-Star Home Run Derby. That ain't gonna happen, but still, it's a fun idea.

Here are a few more reasons to love Madison Bumgarner.

1. Instead of champagne, he uses beer to celebrate the big wins. However, he doesn't waste a good San Francisco microbrew in his beer shower, but goes for the cheap stuff.

2. Jockey made special, limited-edition Mad Bum underwear celebrating his being named MVP of the 2014 World Series.

Unfortunately, the only picture I could find of him modeling that underwear is a bit of a disappointment.

3. His off-season life on a farm makes him the perfect model for a great campaign for Carhartt, and speaking of great campaigns, Carhartt is donating $500 to Helmets to Hardhats for every strikeout Bumgarner throws during the 2016 season.

4. He's dreamy.

I do like Madison better without the beard. Assuming he keeps up his amazing stats this season, he could earn an unprecedented second win as my MLBoyfriend simply by shaving. In any case, he should enjoy this week with the title.
