Jordan Beck

The Colorado Rockies are currently on track to have the worst season in the history of Major League Baseball. I was surprised to see one of their squad listed among the top players of last week. But, Jordan Beck really did put up some big numbers.

Beck had 7 hits in 18 at bats, and 5 of those hits were home runs. For the week, he had a .389 average which is great and a 1.677 OPS which is amazing. Along the way, he scored 5 runs, batted in 6, and even stole a base.

If you stretch the time frame a little from my usual week, Beck's stats are still very impressive.

Congratulations, Jordan Beck. You are my MLBoyfriend of the week. So, that's some good news for the Rockies.

Bryce Harper

Sometimes, you just have to go with an old favorite. Bryce Harper has already won the MLBoyfriend title five times. That seems like a lot of wins, but really, he's been one of the best players in baseball for the nine years this blog has been going.

Last week, Harper went 8 for 25 at the plate with 2 doubles and 3 home runs giving him a .320 average and 1.229 OPS. He scored 8 runs and batted in 9. He also had one stolen base.

Of course, all posts about Bryce Harper must contain one photo of his magnificent hair. Apparently, he is mentoring teammate Alex Bohm on the art of the flow.

Congratulations, Bryce Harper! You are my MLBoyfriend of the week.

Hunter Greene

Hunter Greene threw two very impressive games last week. On Monday, April 7, he went 8.2 innings against the San Francisco Giants giving up 4 hits, 1 walk and 0 earned runs. This earned him the win.

Greene earned his second win of the week on Sunday, April 14, in an outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates that, in some ways, was even more impressive. He went 7 full innings giving up just 2 hits, 1 walk, and, again, 0 earned runs. "Of his 98 pitches, 71 were strikes. That included first-pitch strikes to 18 of his 24 batters."

For the week, Greene ended up with 2 wins, a very impressive 0.51 WHIP, and a 0.00 ERA. Nicely done.

Congratulations, Hunter Greene! You are my MLBoyfriend of the week.

Pete Alonso

I can't believe that Pete Alonso has never been named my MLBoyfriend in the five seasons he's played in the MLB. He was featured on this site in 2019, his rookie year, in my first and only All-Star MLBoyfriend Tournament. Pete lost the tournament to the very worthy Vladimir Guerroro Jr. (who would go on to win another MLBoyfriend title in 2021).

You would think that with all Alonso has going for him--being a reliably very good player, being a super cutie, and being called "The Polar Bear" by teammates and fans--he would have won an MLBoyfriend title at some point in the past 6 years.

Last week, Alonso put up big enough numbers to finally win the title. The Polar Bear had a .364 batting average and a whopping 1.326 OPS. He had 8 hits including 2 doubles and 3 home runs. He scored 6 runs and batted in 11.

Congratulations, Pete Alonso! You are my MLBoyfriend of the week.
